• Plant Structure:
This is a herbaceous plant and its leaves resemble the leaves of the ginger grown at home. Simple leaves are found in this type and the structure is similar to ginger.
• Flower:
The flowers that appear on this plant are whitish with red edges or sometimes completely red in colour.
The wild ginger having red flowers is considered more beneficial.

• This plant is seen around us in the forest during the monsoon season.
When the rain ends, it dries up and remains only in the form of an underground stem.
When the next monsoon begins, the rhizome sprouts again and the plant starts appearing on the ground.
Medicinal Importance of Wild Ginger:
• It helps to thin the blood and improve blood circulation in the body.
• When the ‘Vata’ dosha increases in the body, wild ginger helps to reduce and balance it.
• Increase in body fat leads to arterial stiffness i.e. obesity.
In modern terms, this is known as increased cholesterol.
Wild ginger helps to reduce this increased bad fat (bad cholesterol).
• It improves hair health.
• It helps diabetic patients by controlling sugar levels and regulating the insulin mechanism.
