Medicinal Importance of Sadaphuli
Sadaphuli che aushadhi mahatva :
• Origin: Madagascar in South Africa
• Types: 1) White Sadabahar, 2) Pink Sadabahar
• It is a small plant. It is cultivated near the house, in gardens, pots, and home yards.
• Leaves: Leaves are small and oval in shape.
• This plant produces flowers daily. On a small hollow stem, there are five petals.
• Small pods appear, and inside them are seeds similar to mustard seeds.

• Medicinal Uses:
• Extract made from Sadaphuli flowers helps control increased blood sugar when given regularly to diabetic patients.
• Because of the compounds present in the root, boiling the roots and flowers in water and drinking that water in small amounts helps regulate blood sugar, reduces stress, and maintains blood pressure. Since the roots and bark have pain-relieving properties, their paste is applied externally.
• When the Muladhara Chakra in the body becomes imbalanced, stomach and leg disorders occur, even paralysis may occur. Consuming the flower juice of this plant helps balance this chakra.
• For piles (hemorrhoids), crushing the leaves of Sadabahar and applying the pulp on the affected area helps in healing.
• Frequent headaches, lack of sleep, irritation due to mental stress — for these, put Sadaphuli flowers in boiling water, keep them for 2 minutes, remove the flowers, cool the water, and drink. It gives relief. Eating a small amount of leaf preserve (murabba) daily gives sound sleep.
• For facial spots, boils with pus, or boils anywhere on the body, crushing the flowers or crushing them with leaves and applying helps dry the boils and remove marks.
• Because the leaves have antibacterial properties, their paste is applied to wounds.
• If a honeybee, scorpion, or any insect bites, grinding the flowers and leaves together and applying gives relief.
• For itching on the body, grind Sadaphuli flowers, leaves, and neem leaves in equal quantity and apply three times a day (morning, afternoon, evening). Using for a few days helps cure itching.
• Drinking water boiled with 2–4 flowers of Sadaphuli helps lower blood pressure.
• For scratches and wounds, applying leaf juice gives relief.
• To reduce hair fall, applying leaf juice to the scalp is beneficial.
• Research has been done on Sadaphuli. It is used in the treatment of cancer. In leukemia (blood cancer), the use of Sadaphuli is increasing. Sadaphuli-based medicines are used in chemotherapy as well.
• During menstruation, if women experience excessive bleeding or pain, soaking the leaves in hot water overnight and drinking the extracted water provides relief.
Precautions While Using Sadaphuli:
• Although Sadaphuli is medicinal, its internal use should be strictly under the advice of an Ayurvedic doctor.
• For external use (on wounds, boils, insect stings), there is no risk.
• Snakes and scorpions usually do not come near this plant because it is poison-dominant. Therefore, its consumption must be in limited quantity and only with expert guidance.
